opkg update

rgw1001

I’m trying to install some Bluetooth stuff on an ancient Angstrom distribution.  If I do opkg update I get:

Downloading http://feeds.angstrom-distribution.org/feeds/next/ipk/eglibc/armv7a/base/Packages.gz.

wget: server returned error: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found

If I manually browse feeds.angstrom-distribution.org I can see resources which could plausibly be what I’m after (probably in the v2012.05 folder).  Is there an official method to persuade opkg update to go to a particular web page to fetch packages?

Any ideas?

Re: opkg update

Hi Richard,

Check out the /etc/opkg directory. It has a few files in there to configure opkg - namely, you can tell it where feeds are located.  For some time you have been able to add new feeds by adding your own .conf to that directory. Alternatively, you can probably just edit the base-feeds.conf (assuming that is what it was called, way back when).

Cheers,

Akram

Hi Richard,

Sorry for the delayed reply, this email went to spam.

Can you post your confs for the default angstrom feeds maybe? Might save a lot of questions.

Cheers,

Akram

Re: opkg update

rgw1001

Hi Akram,

I relegated all but the base & overo-feed.conf files to a temporary directory and edited these 2 files as shown:

root@overo:~# ls -l /etc/opkg/

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root           151 Jul 14  2016 arch.conf

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root            87 Feb 24  2017 base-feed.conf

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root          1096 Apr 19  2016 opkg.conf

-rw-r--r--    1 root     root            97 Feb 24  2017 overo-feed.conf

drwxr-xr-x    2 root     root          1024 Feb 24  2017 temp

root@overo:~# cat /etc/opkg/base-feed.conf

src/gz base http://feeds.angstrom-distribution.org/feeds/2011.03/ipk/glibc/armv7a/base

root@overo:~# cat /etc/opkg/overo-feed.conf

src/gz overo http://feeds.angstrom-distribution.org/feeds/2011.03/ipk/glibc/armv7a/machine/overo

I had to use nano with the –w switch to suppress word wrapping which affects such long lines.

Opkg update now runs without error.  I’m still working on getting the Bluetooth up.

Regards,

Richard
