kernel panic, gumstix-console-image (yocto/poky)

Hello,

I'm working with an overo AirSTORM and I would like to customize the linux kernel of this.

So I have followed the instructions here (https://github.com/gumstix/Gumstix-YoctoProject-Repo) and successfully compiled the gumstix-console-image with bitbake and the yocto/poky repo. I have done no modification to this image for a first time...

Then I have created a bootable SD card thanks to the instructions given in http://gumstix.org/create-a-bootable-microsd-card.html
I used:
-  the MLO file mlo-updated from http://cumulus.gumstix.org/images/angstrom/factory/2011-08-30-1058/ (because I have a STORM COM,) I also tried with the MLO generated by the compilation,
- the "u-boot.img" generated by the compilation,
- the "uImage" file generated by the compilation,
- the gumstix-console-image.ubi generated by the compilation

But when the system boots from the mmc, I obtain a kernel panic:

Did you expand the rootfs.tar.bz2 file to the ext3 partition of the
microSD card?  The UBI file is just for flash memory.

Thanks, it works like a charm! As you can see, I'm new in linux...
I just replaced my previous step:
sudo cp gumstix-console-image.ubi /media/rootfs/rootfs-overo.ubi
by:
sudo tar xvf gumstix-console-image.tar.bz2 -C /media/rootfs
