dizzy enable rtc trickle charger ?

kris duff
Hello,

trying to migrate from daisy to dizzy I want to enable the trickle charger for the small rtc battery.  I want to enable 500uA charging rate.

In daisy I modified the patch named : 0007-rtc-twl-add-support-for-backup-battery-recharge.patch

I would like to know if there is a new way in dizzy to enable the trickle charger ? For now, I see that it is disabled.

Thank you.

Kris

Hi Kris, I sent an email earlier with a patch, but it seems to have gone missing.
There is a RTC selector patch for Kernel 3.17 [1]. I think it's what you are looking for.

Re: dizzy enable rtc trickle charger ?

kris duff
Adam,

Thank you, it was exactly what I was looking for.

May I ask how to use the properties to set the tickle charger ? In the documentation it is said to
use this :

 rtc@0 {
     compatible = "ti,twl4030-rtc";
+    enable-battery-charge;
+    charge-rate = <0x1>;
+    charge-voltage = <0x8>;
 };

but where should I set this ?

Thank you

Kris

Re: dizzy enable rtc trickle charger ?

kris duff
Adam,

I tried to create a linux-gumstix_3.17.bbappend that looks like this :

#==========================
FILESEXTRAPATHS_prepend := "${THISDIR}/linux-gumstix-3.17:"

S = "${WORKDIR}/git"

SCR_URI += "file://0001-rtc-twl-add-DT-support-for-RTC-battery-recharge.patch"
#==========================

When I execute bitbake virtual/kernel the new patch will not be copied in the work/overo.../linux-gumstix/ directory beside the other patches.

I know my bbappend is being executed since if I add PRINC := ${@int(PRINC) + 1} the revision of the work directory will go from r0 to r1.

Do you see any error in my recipe file ? Also, why we have to add semicolon at the end of my FILESEXTRAPATHS_prepend ?

Thank you again !

Kris
