bitbake omap3-console image build problem.

raji
Hi,

I am trying to build console image (2011.03)  according to instructions on the gumstix page  ,  http://gumstix.org/software-development/open-embedded/61-using-the-open-embedded-build-system.html

The bitbake command (bitbake omap3-console-image)  fails while fetching
http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/sources/git_www.sakoman.com.git.linux-omap-2.6.git_946d9657fd4a095e08c261506c3e2e7ea06f5c7d.tar.gz
 Resolving www.angstrom-distribution.org... 188.40.83.200
 Connecting to www.angstrom-distribution.org|188.40.83.200|:80... connected.
 HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 404 Not Found
 2011-11-02 09:55:34 ERROR 404: Not Found.

Unable to fetch URL git://www.sakoman.com/git/linux-omap-2.6.git;branch=omap-3.0-pm;protocol=git from any source.: Failed

This appears to be similar to the one posted a few messages ago failing at u-boot stage.

Thanks,
Raji

Hi Raji,
I confronted a similar problem and enmach gave the solution with the following advice:

Hi Savas,
Try updating your overo-oe repository and rebuilding u-boot.

 $ cd ~/overo-oe/org.openembedded.dev
 $ git pull origin overo-2011.03
 $ bitbake u-boot

u-boot and x-loader had been pointed at unstable branches but this should be resolved now.

It worked fine for me and the cross compilation of omap3-console-image completed without further problems.

It looks similar but this is a separate problem. I just removed my old
source to force a fetch and got:

 Cloning into /home/neil/overo-oe/sources/git/www.sakoman.com.git.linux-omap-2.6.git...

Which is still underway so I presume it is working. I think that
simply cleaning and restarting the kernel build should do the trick.

 $ bitbake -c clean virtual/kernel
 $ bitbake virtual/kernel

If that succeeds then restart your omap3-###-image build.

Hi Savas,

Thanks for your response.
I did see that information in the forum a few posts before.
I tried that but no luck.
Also I see in your comments that you suggest running u-boot ?
Mine failed before reaching that step. I tried running the steps below and the result was there was no console image.
There was u-boot and the x-loader images but the console image did not get built.

Hi Neil,

Thanks for the response.
1. I did start with a completely new directory overo-oe. ( so latest overo-oe repository )
2. Got the same failure again.
3. I tried the steps suggested by you.
    $ bitbake -c clean virtual/kernel
   $ bitbake virtual/kernel
4. Encountered the same error.

Hi Neil,

I have had no luck so far.

I started with a fresh overo directory again - and hit the same error @ task 1719 in trying to fetch the kernel

Is there something that I am doing wrong ?
Is there some work around for this ?

Re: bitbake omap3-console image build problem.

Also I tried accessing directly the below

1. http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/sources/git_www.sakoman.com.git.linux-omap-2.6.git_946d9657fd4a095e08c261506c3e2e7ea06f5c7d.tar.gz
Not found
2. http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/sources/
Appears to be a strange page. I remember previously having seen a directory listing of sources.

I really would appreciate if anybody had any ideas.

Thanks,
Raji

I ran into the same problem. It appears that the server is no longer hosting the files. After many hours of Googling + trial and error I found backup files posted online. Here's what you do:

I've run into the same problem.

They ARE still hosting the files. It seems though as bitbake make multiple requests to angstrom-distribution.org you get throttled. I'm unable to visit www.angstrom-distribution.org anymore. Although when I posted a link of a package that I was unable to download to a friend, he was able to download it and send it to me.

I don't know if we should contact them or something? It's really painful having to download all packages that fail manually...
