Hi Steve,

Saw that your website has been revamped.

Trying to access the git repositories but ended up with the following errors.

fatal: unable to connect to www.sakoman.com:

Hope you are aware of this.

James,

Yes, the old server was beginning to show signs of age so it was time
to move to a new machine.

You caught me in the midst of moving things from the old machine to
the new machine.

Git access should be working again now.

I did take the opportunity to fix something that has been bugging me
-- the name of the linux repository is now just linux, not
linux-omap-2.6.  We've been on Linux 3.X for quite some time now and I
plan to be working with some non-OMAP processors too!

This does mean that you will need to update any kernel recipes that
use my repository to reflect the new name.

Also, if you are working with a manual clone of my repository you will
need to edit .git/config to reflect the new name.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but it seemed like a good time to do some
housecleaning :-)

Steve are the resources you had on your website going to be put up again as well? The links to your useful documents and shell scripts do not work any more.

As I have time, energy, and motivation :-)

Some are GNOME specific and will be retired along with the GNOME images.

If folks want to nominate articles to move over I'll do those first,
but I will likely focus mostly on new content.

The old site will be available for a few more weeks at: http://www2.sakoman.com

Hi Steve,

No need to apologize since it's your free service to the community. (^^,)

I'm not sure if you would also consider mirrorring your gits on your Github so as to have an alternative should you need to down the server for maintenance and also to take some BW out of yours? (^^,)

I'm fine with changing the source recipe manually to fit the new naming. (^^,)

Steve,
could you please also make available the URL to your OE-classic source cache folder in the new server?

Many thanks in adv.

Sorry, I no longer use OE classic, so I won't be maintaining an
OE-classic source cache.

Understood that there is no need to maintain the old cache.
But IF your OE-classic source cache is still laying around in the old server, can you let me have some time to download them?

Many thanks in adv.

I've made my source cache (includes older oe-classic files as well as
new yocto downloads) available at http://source-cache.gumstix.org/.

Note, the file-listing is incomplete (javascript hack on amazon
cloudfront didn't work so well ;-) )---there are many more files there
than are listed.

That's great, Ash!
Any way to browse the entire list?

Unfortunately no---at least not without setting up a web server.
I've made a list of the current set of files here though:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/211887/files2.txt
(no promises to keep this updated---this is just the current listing)

I'm confused as to how to edit ".git/config"

I checked out branch gnome-r13 and am trying to build linux-sakoman-pm and I get into trouble when it wants the /git/linux-omap-2.6 during the bitbake

these are commands I did to check the r13 branch out..not sure if its correct but it worked...
git clone git://www.sakoman.com/git/openembedded.git org.openembedded.dev
git checkout --track -b gnome-r13 origin/gnome-r13

where is the git repo initialized? I have looked through the build/conf, openembedded/conf

I even changed the recipe for linux-sakoman_3.0.bb
from: linux-omap-2.6.git to linux.git

but I still get this:
ERROR: Error parsing /home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/org.openembedded.dev/recipes/linux/linux-sakoman-pm_3.0.bb: Fetch command export HOME="/home/shaviland"; export SSH_AUTH_SOCK="/tmp/keyring-ZJOlsM/ssh"; export PATH="/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/build/bin:/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/user.collection/bin:/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/org.openembedded.dev/bin:/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/tmp/sysroots/i686-linux/usr/armv7a/bin:/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/tmp/sysroots/i686-linux/usr/sbin:/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/tmp/sysroots/i686-linux/usr/bin:/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/tmp/sysroots/i686-linux/sbin:/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/tmp/sysroots/i686-linux//bin:/home/shaviland/overo-sakoman/bitbake/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games"; git ls-remote git://www.sakoman.com/git/linux-omap-2.6.git omap-3.0-pm failed with signal 128, output:
